A symbol of English kitsch the Gluggle Jug was originally produced by Thomas Forester and Son in Staffordshire in the late 1870s.
The ceramic jugs were used in advertising by breweries and over the years hundreds were made to advertise ‘Plymouth Gin’. Gurgling jugs were intended for use as water jugs, a name they inherited due to the sound they made when the liquid was poured out.
