Iittala has been making quality tableware since setting up its first glassware factory in 1881, near its namesake town of Iittala in Finland. More recently, Iittala commissioned the Finnish designer, Klaus Haapaniemi, to apply his exquisite illustrations to a range of tableware, and the Taika (meaning ‘magic’ in Finnish) range was created.
The latest collection in the Taika range is ‘Sato’, meaning ‘harvest’, and is inspired by nature. Klaus says of his designs: “In the compositions for the Sato series, I wanted to elevate vegetables and fruits in a powerful way that leaves room for imagination to interpret the forms and colours intuitively. They can be seen as colourful textures, abstract compositions, or a deliciously abundant and ripe harvest.”
Each item in the Sato collection features a different illustration, and they are designed to sit together as a set, but will also stand as a feature item on their own. These petite, ceramic storage jars make a beautiful and practical gift, decorated with the fascinating and playful patterns of the Sato range.
