Iittala have been making quality tableware since 1881, when their first glass factory set up near the town of Iittala in Finland. The Ultima Thule pattern was created by Finnish designer and sculptor, Tapio Wirkkala, in the 1960s, when he took inspiration from the melting ice of Lapland. Ultima Thule is the term given to the farthest point of a journey, an unattainable goal, or the northernmost reaches. The range is the result of a thousand hours spent perfecting the glassblowing technique to perfect the pattern.
Looking as though made from carved ice, and elegant enough to be used for Finnair's First Class passengers, this set of two 38cl glasses are ideal for serving cocktails, or a refreshing, chilled drink. They are also dishwasher-safe.
