Aria Journal:
How did you begin working in interior design?
I always had a passion for interiors. While I was working in high-end fashion for 10 years, I wanted to change career and find something that would really be fulfilling for me, so I began studying an interior design course.
Which are some of your favourite furniture and lighting items to use in projects?
There are so many, that's a difficult question. One of my favourite pieces of furniture that I've used in many projects is the Togo Sofa by Michel Ducaroy. It's effortless to use in a design, having a unique style and identity.

Another piece is the Pixel modular sofa by Sergio Bicego. It's a very good solution if you need a contemporary, modular sofa with multiple configurations for different interior spaces.
It's also definitely worth mentioning the Madia Slim cabinet by Sovet, because it allows the use of interesting materials such as ceramic and wood. And the options it comes in are endless.
For lighting, something very simple but with a unique texture, such as an Aplomb by Foscarini – a concrete light that comes as both pendant and wall light.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Much of the inspiration for each project comes directly from the client and their personality. I try to tap into their tastes and how they feel about the space. More generally, I find it can be very helpful to visit a museum or just a walk in the park.
Which are the key points to think about when starting a redecoration project?
It's very important to meet the clients in person, and for that reason the first client's consultation is crucial because according to their needs, personality, and style, I create and build the whole scheme.
I ask as many open questions as I can, to gather as much information about the client's everyday lifestyle as possible. According to that, I start to create a very first design draft in my mind.

Can you share with us, three of your top design tips?
1. Lights: For interiors, I always recommend warm light, or some areas of pure white such as the home office and kitchen worktop, but never cool white. Ideally in a space, for example living room, the best option is to have different sources of lights at different heights because that way, they make the space more unique, cozy, and interesting. Remember this: the correct position of lights can elevate the design
2. Plants: They always help to make the interior space more welcoming and cozy. Indoor plants can provide microclimate and improve our life quality of not only physical health, but mental health.
3. Personality: It's certainly a good idea to take some inspiration from social media (Instagram or Pinterest) or any interior magazines, however, for each interior design project the space should reflect the personality of the resident. Go bold, go minimal or go unique – it's not necessary to make it look like a magazine photo, but your space has to tell your own story. I'm very happy to help with that and that is my strength.
